David Katz appointed as the International Road Course Measurer for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games

Finish Line Road Race Technician’s founder and President, David Katz has been appointed by the International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) as the International Road Course Measurer for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. David will be responsible for the measurements of both the marathon and race walking courses. In addition, he is charged with assisting with the overall management of the road events.

David also held the same position for the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio Olympic Games – making him the only measurer every to have the appointment more than once!

David was a member of the measuring team for both the 1984 Los Angles Olympic and the 1996 Atlanta Olympics establishing him as the most experienced Olympic road course measurer ever.

David is also a four term member of the IAAF Technical Committee – responsible for establishing the technical rules and protocols of the sport.

Here in the USA, David serves on the USATF Rules Committee, the Records Committee, and is the Chairperson of the Road Running Technical Council which oversees road course measuring for the USA.

In December 2017, David was inducted into the USATF Official’s Hall of Fame.
